Development Engineer

EVRAZ North America has an opening for a Development Engineer at our Calgary Tubular operations.

This is a developmental role in which the successful candidate will work within our operations group at our manufacturing facility. The candidate will learn to manage the people and processes employed in the manufacturing of API Oil Country Tubular Goods.

The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing overall operational strategies throughout the plant including safety, process, equipment and manufacturing improvements, maximizing plant throughput and creating synergies between and within facilities.

This position would be of interest to recent graduates with a technical degree or diploma in Engineering or Engineering Technology. The ideal candidate will have a background in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science and/or Electrical engineering.

Experience in the steel industry and/or oil and gas is considered an asset. Strong facilitation, leadership potential and training skills are a must. Organizational skills, conceptual thinking and the ability to plan and implement projects are considered assets.

Director, Line Pipe Sales (ERW), Canada

Key Objective

To contribute to the profitability and growth of EVRAZ by effectively managing the sales and marketing of ERW Line Pipe, that is, NPS 2-8 stock and NPS 8-24 project ERW line pipe in accordance with the direction received by the Vice President, Sales, OCTG & LP.

Key Functions

Manage the ERW LP Sales, Customer Relationships, Sales Administration and the Line Pipe Outside Sales group (Presently – 2 Outside).

LP Sales
  1. Profitability
    1. Manage selling prices, volumes, and mix in accordance with market conditions to maximize profitability and achieve cash flow targets.
    2. Specific goals are established with the annual plan.
  2. Sales Volume
    1. Grow on-going business relationships and establish new customers to maximize sales volume within the market and EVRAZ capacity limitations.
    2. Monitor and control sales channels to ensure maximum value to EVRAZ and the marketplace.
    3. Develop new market opportunities to enhance margins and volume growth.
  3. Identify New Market Opportunities
    1. Participate, identify and investigate new market opportunities for EVRAZ.
      1. New products.
      2. New services.
      3. New or improved means of conducting business.
  4. Interaction & coordination with US Line Pipe Group.
Customer Relationships
  1. Customer Relationships
    1. Meet or exceed the Customer expectations for Customer service, Ease of ordering, Quality, Cost, and On-time delivery.
  2. New Customers
    1. Determine and monitor customer credit status with Credit group interaction.
    2. Ensure that appropriate investigation is done prior to entering into a contractual arrangement with the Customer.
  3. Appropriate Advertising Campaigns
    1. Develop and work with VP Sales and the Director of Marketing to establish budgets for line pipe marketing activities to be set on an annual basis, Including:
      1. Magazine ads.
      2. Trade Publications.
      3. Community and Customer donations/volunteering.
Sales Administration
  1. Forecasts
    1. Key input into the annual PRM forecast for each year on ERW Line Pipe.
    2. Monthly update of the 12 month rolling forecast for line pipe.
    3. Participate in the development and implementation of strategic objectives for EVRAZ Tubular Products Group (TPG)
    4. Develop systematic reporting of line pipe projects and opportunities (Sales Committee).
    5. Participate in longer range forecasts with input from VP Sales.
  2. Terms and Conditions
    1. Ensure that standard terms and conditions reflect EVRAZ policy.
      1. Monitor changes in market conditions and propose changes when required.
    2. Review terms/conditions outside of normal practice to ensure appropriate for the level of risk involved with the Customer/Project.
  3. Revenue Recognition – FOB Point
    1. Ensure payment schedules for individual Customers/Projects are clearly defined for all parties involved.
    2. Ensure that revenue recognition is clear per standard EVRAZ procedures.
  4. Review of Customer Accounts
    1. Determine the appropriate course of action to reduce aged receivables and maintain good relations with Customers.
    2. Ensure that aged receivables are reviewed on a routine basis.
      1. Outstanding receivables are flagged for follow-up.
      2. Customers are contacted to determine issue(s) involved and appropriate level of action to be taken.
Manage Line Pipe Sales Group
  1. Personnel performance
    1. Performance reviews are conducted annually using:
      1. Position Responsibilities.
      2. EVRAZ Performance Appraisal and Development Plan.
    2. Staffing levels are reviewed on a regular basis to ensure they meet our needs, and are reduced or increased as required.
    3. Delegation
      1. Authority and responsibility are delegated to the lowest appropriate level.
      2. Personnel are reviewed on at least an annual basis to ensure levels of authority and responsibility are understood and accepted.
      3. Clear control on the limits and understanding of the financial approvals, that is sales pricing, customer credits, etc., for each employee.
    4. Communication
      1. The information necessary to produce effective results is communicated to all staff.
      2. Routine communication with peers, the VP Sales (Canada and US) and EVP concerning market conditions and market direction relative to EVRAZ stock and project line pipe sales.
      3. Monthly near term and 12 month forecast is updated for line pipe stock and projects.
  2. Market Intelligence
    1. Maintain and grow a market intelligence network, which accurately evaluates competitive forces, thus resulting in the maximization of selling prices for project and day to day contracts.

Field Representative

EVRAZ North America has an opening for a Field Representative at our Calgary Tubular operations.

The incumbent is responsible for interaction with current and potential EVRAZ customers, preparing reports and presentations in regards to tubular products, assisting Sales with customer complaints and preparing / conducting training seminars for customers and internal personnel.

The candidate must possess good analytical and communication skills. In addition, they must have good inter-personal skills as well as a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of experience with Tubular products along with a degree in Engineering or related discipline.

Broad knowledge of the physical and mechanical characteristics of steel tubular products, general knowledge of steel performance and applications within the Energy Sector as well knowledge of fabrication operations such as forming, welding and threading is considered an asset.

Maintenance Planner

EVRAZ North America has an opportunity for a Maintenance Planner to work in our Calgary Facility.

The successful candidate will have strong project planning skills supplemented with previous industrial manufacturing experience in a unionized industrial environment.

This position would be of interest to individuals who have a bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineers; Red Seal Journeymen (Mechanical and Electrical), coupled with 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The successful candidate will also possess strong communications skills, be a people-person, have strong computer skills, be extremely well-organized and understand equipment technologies, limitations and their effect on safety, quality, productivity and cost.

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for administrating and developing plans and budgets for an assigned asset. They will effectively manage technical documentation and prepare, monitor and evaluate results of equipment inspection for the assigned asset. They will develop plans for maintenance downturns, major plant shutdowns and CAPEX repair projects for assets.

In addition to defining and optimizing spare parts levels for the assigned asset and effectively manage external resources while keeping in the budget they design. Finally they will monitor and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and metrics for assigned assets.

Manager – Canadian Tubular Purchasing

The Manager – Canadian Tubular Purchasing is responsible for organizing, directing, and controlling procurement of all goods and services throughout the Tubular Canadian Operations. This includes the supervising and mentoring of personnel in meeting the corporate objectives, as they apply but not limited to Procurement Policies & Procedures compliance, Strategic Purchasing Initiatives (SPI), plant productivity and achievement of cost reduction targets. Execute the corporate purchasing strategy as it relates to the tubular & steel operations. Support and promote continuous Improvement in the growth of the purchasing personnel and departments.

Principal Activites:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Canadian strategic plan for the procurement department.
  • Ensure the communication is sent out to the mills on the procurement plan as it relates to purchasing.
  • Ensure the corporate procurement plan aligns with the Canadian procurement plan.
  • Identify opportunities for procurement efficiencies through tools such as EDI, EFT, ERS, etc.
  • Responsible to develop and review all contracts and approve such for all purchases of MRO items, excluding Strategic Purchasing Initiatives.
  • Responsible for approving all annual agreements for each site.
  • Interface with Legal on all agreements as necessary.
  • Participate and ensure compliance of the purchasing group on Strategic Purchasing Initiatives (SPI) projects.
  • Work with the Director – Procurement on identify areas of opportunity for SPI projects through out Canadian Tubular Operations.
  • Responsible to ensure the compliance of the sites with all EVRAZ policies and procedures and to ensure that all Canadian Tubular Purchasing Operations are compliant.
  • Maintain purchased product and service quality.
  • Manage non-conforming purchased material disposition, including production material.
  • Direct responsibility and accountability for purchasing involvement in and compliance with ISO standards.
  • Liaise with corporate Legal Department on all issues relating to supplier contracts, obligations, etc.
  • Responsible for the selection, training and safety of all people working in the Tubular Purchasing role at the Canadian sites.
  • Responsible to develop and provide relevant training programs for the Tubular Site purchasing people.
  • Identify areas of continuous improvement through the Tubular purchasing groups.
  • Identify consistency of purchasing practices through out the Tubular sites.
  • Manage purchasing personnel in the execution of approved purchasing policies regarding all procurement activity including:
    1. Ensure that “best practice” procurement procedures are followed regarding source selection, soliciting bids, cost/price analysis, negotiations, and the development and issuing of contracts, contract administration, negotiating adjustments with suppliers and the termination of contracts.
    2. Manage the competitive bid process and the associated PR coding process.
    3. Manage material flow/expediting.
    4. Establish and maintain appropriate vendor relations.
    5. Ensure that documentation of the procurement process/activity is properly maintained.
  • Plan and lead the Tubular Purchasing Department efforts to achieve total cost reduction and report on cost reduction activity of the Department.
  • Ensure that the issuance of Purchase Orders is compliant with EVRAZ Standard Terms and Conditions of Purchase and ISO standards.
  • Work with Purchasing Agents and Engineering upfront in developing the sourcing strategies for projects.
  • Work with Purchasing Agents and Project Managers to identify and qualify potential bidders.
  • Develop and manage the bidding process.
  • Lead and assist in the negotiations with suppliers.
  • Assist with the purchasing of capital items and service throughout the Tubular Canadian EVRAZ Operations.

Requirements:
  • Business Degree or Certificate.
  • 5-10 years Senior/Management Purchasing experience in a multi-plant environment and experience with construction contracts. Equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable.
  • Should also have experience setting terms with suppliers as well as drafting and reviewing contracts.

Desirable:
  • Professional Purchasing Designation: S.C.M.P., C.P.M., APICS certification or equivalent.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Tubular & Steel processes and products.

Senior Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis

Position responsibilities include the management and oversight of all financial planning and analysis activities at Calgary.

This includes being the lead financial role in working with operations, maintenance and sales and provides financial guidance and understanding to business decisions that affect the location.

Maintenance Planner

The successful candidate will have strong project planning skills supplemented with previous industrial manufacturing experience in a unionized industrial environment.

This position would be of interest to individuals who have a bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineers; Red Seal Journeymen (Mechanical and Electrical), coupled with 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The successful candidate will also possess strong communications skills, be a people-person, have strong computer skills, be extremely well-organized and understand equipment technologies, limitations and their effect on safety, quality, productivity and cost.

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for administrating and developing plans and budgets for an assigned asset. They will effectively manage technical documentation and prepare, monitor and evaluate results of equipment inspection for the assigned asset. They will develop plans for maintenance downturns, major plant shutdowns and CAPEX repair projects for assets.

In addition to defining and optimizing spare parts levels for the assigned asset and effectively manage external resources while keeping in the budget they design. Finally they will monitor and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and metrics for assigned assets.

As a District Sales Manager, you will be responsible for the promotion, sale and service for the North American flat roll products division.

IT Analyst Business Systems

EVRAZ North America has an opening for an IT Analyst Business Systems. The Analyst supports the analysis, design, development and operation of business systems at EVRAZ Regina.

The Analyst will elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis. He / she will critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding and distinguish user requests from underlying true needs. The Analyst will drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans.

The Analyst will proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: Functional requirements, business requirements, use cases, screen and interface designs. Additional duties may include custom software development and report creation.

Experience in Project Management and Business Intelligence would be beneficial. He / she must demonstrate an unrelenting commitment to client / user service as well as the ability to balance individual client / user needs with those of the corporation. A focus on the company’s core values is expected.

The IT Analyst Business Systems should have a Bachelor’s degree in Science, commerce or engineering and 3 years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in ERP solutions as well as custom-developed applications and evaluating application development tools is required. He / she must also be experienced in different application development methodologies and understand the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches. A background in steel or other manufacturing sector considered an asset

Lean Leader / 6S Champion

EVRAZ North America has an opening for a Lean Leader / 6S Champion in Regina.

The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing overall operational strategies throughout the plant including process, equipment and manufacturing improvements, maximizing plant throughput and creating synergies between and within facilities. The incumbent will work with the VP / GM and collaborate with the Divisional Director of Operational Excellence to ensure the exchange of best practices.

The candidate must possess good problem solving and communication skills as well as being able to think on their feet. In addition they must have good computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and Lean Manufacturing software.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing environment in an engineering, lean manufacturing, strategic operational role as well as a degree in Engineering, Accounting, Project Management or Organizational Development or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in the steel industry is considered an asset. Strong facilitation and training skills are a must. Organizational skills, conceptual thinking and the ability to plan and implement project are considered assets.

Maintenance Superintendent

The Maintenance Superintendent will be responsible for managing the overall maintenance organization at our Regina facilities. Metallurgical Engineer

EVRAZ North America has an opening for a Metallurgical Engineer in the Technical Services Group at our Regina facility.

The successful candidate will focuses on the development of new products, assist in customer pre-production meetings and also be a liaison with Sales and Scheduling on production / processing of existing high strength line pipe and structural steels.

In addition, they will assist operations in trials and development activities, undertake product performance analyses, investigate any customer queries and provide assistance in day to day technical services.

Applicants should possess a Degree in Metallurgical Engineering coupled with a minimum of 5 years of relevant Industrial or Technical Services experience is desirable. General knowledge of physical metallurgy and mechanical testing is also required.

Preference will be given to candidates with a strong knowledge of Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steelmaking, rolling, and / or steel physical metallurgy.

Applicants should possess a M.Sc. in Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering.

Preference will be given to candidates with a strong knowledge of Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steelmaking and/or steel physical metallurgy.

A minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial or research experience is desirable.

Safety Supervisor

EVRAZ North America Regina has an opening for a Safety Supervisor in our Steel operations.

The incumbent will support and coordinate programs and activities with respect to health and safety at the operating facilities at the Regina facilities.

The successful candidate will be on the floor assisting and monitoring facility compliance with the EVRAZ safety programs, applicable laws and regulations. They will also be required to design, develop and deliver safety training in a variety of areas.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2 - 3 years of related experiences along with a degree from a recognized institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Completion of your CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) will be considered an asset.

Senior Metallurgical Technologist / Metallurgical Technologist

EVRAZ North America has an opening for a Senior Metallurgical Technologist / Metallurgical Technologist at the Research and Development Regina facility.

He / she will possess a Materials or Mechanical Technology Diploma with 1 - 5 years of experience or the equivalent.

A successful candidate will be well versed in more than one of the following:
  • Specialized testing equipment for mechanical testing (e.g. impact, tensile, hardness, ring expansion, collapse, structural tensile testing, bend and fatigue).
  • Non-destructive analysis methods (e.g. welding (e.g. GMAW, SAW).
  • Microstructural assessment (e.g. optical, image analysis, electron, EDX, FIB).
  • Corrosion testing (e.g. pH, SSC, HIC).
  • Thermal mechanical simulation, and software for data analysis and collection.

This individual will be able to take direction from research engineers when required, and be able to train both junior technologist and engineering co-op students.
