Job Responsibilities:

Heat Treat Material Handler

Job Responsibilities

Ability to work in environment subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust, and noise. Use remotely controlled overhead cranes to stack and unstack steel plate, load and unload plate on conveyor system, and load and unload plate on trucks and rail cars. Use burning equipment and hand grinder to cut and prepare plate samples for testing. Tag and mark plate. Enter data into computers. Operate forklift. Physical requirements are medium-heavy. Reports to Heat Treat first-line supervisor. Additional responsibilities included as directed by the first-line supervisor.

Job Requirements
  • Ability to work in environment subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust, and noise
  • Ability to accurately enter data into computers without transposing figures
  • Ability to read and follow procedures and technical manuals
  • Ability to think ahead and plan work in fast-paced setting
  • Ability to work independently

  • Good math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, accurate number identification
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts

Job Description

As a Hydraulic Supervisor, you will oversee our hydraulic team and develop three technicians (two Mechanical Maintenance Technicians and one Maintenance Electrical Technician) into fully skilled hydraulic technicians by working with maintenance crews for training and also through on-the-job, hands-on training.

Leading your crew and working with our Maintenance Supervisors, your goals will include:

  • Reducing hydraulic oil consumption due to leaks by faulty equipment
  • Eliminating the needless change-out of good equipment
  • Reducing all mill related hydraulic delays
  • Managing all hydraulic budgets and inventories
  • Setting up hydraulic troubleshooting documents

Job Description

As a Hydraulic Supervisor, you must be an effective leader with a strong work ethic and an extensive background in hydraulics and related technology. You should also have strong problem solving, analytical and organizational skills. It is also important that you have excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with people at all levels of our organization.

Specific qualifications for the role include:

  • 2 year degree with studies in Hydraulic Technology; additional education, a plus
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the design and implementation of industrial hydraulic systems
  • 10 years’ experience with leading skilled technicians in the maintenance and troubleshooting of all phases of hydraulic components and circuits
  • Expert skills with Proportional and Servo valves
  • Design experience with Logic cartridges
  • Experience with all brands of hydraulic components (e.g., Vickers, Rexroth, Parker and Moog)
  • Skill with plus or minus 10 volt and 4 – 20 milliamp electrical signals and controls
  • Experience in preventive and predictive hydraulic maintenance

We are currently accepting applications from experienced candidates for a Millwright in our Maintenance Department.

Pay up to $29.00 per hour based on experience.

Requirements:
  • Qualified as Journeyman Level Millwright
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to use computer programs
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Drill press, hydraulic press, band saws, shears, brakes, hand tool usage and skills
  • Use of dial indicator, micrometer, caliper, thread gauges, rulers and tape measures
  • Forklift, man lift, mobile cranes, carry decks, overhead cranes, and scissor lift use
  • Proper Alignment, tolerances, repair, replacement, tension, and adjustment of Bearings, shafts, belts, sprockets, couplings, pulleys, motors, gearboxes, etc…
  • Proper Rigging selection, weight estimation, volume calculation,signaling, hoisting, cribbing and securing loads
  • Torch use – Heating for expansion, burning, cutting, brazing
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Basic math skills, some exposure to Geometry, Trigonometry preferred
  • Successful completion of ergonomics evaluation

Preferred:

  • 4 years experience in Heavy Industrial Plant Maintenance
  • Able to troubleshoot and repair complex hydraulic systems incorporating proportional and servo valves
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance tools (vibration analysis, thermographic imaging, ultra sound, laser alignment, etc)

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide maintenance and operational support and resolution of control system problems. Responsible for first-line troubleshooting aOperate machinery for the manufacture of steel pipe and tubing, including slitters and roll form mills.
  • Maintain good operating condition of all equipment.
  • Make mechanical maintenance repairs with assistance of maintenance personnel.
  • Operate various tools and gauges (hand-operated, air or electric driven) including micrometers, calipers, radius tools, hammers, sledges, wrenches, metal grinders, etc.
  • Hook up machinery, equipment, tubes, etc. to cranes by cable or chains.
  • Keep and write clear, concise reports of daily production and other conditions that affect the operation of the line.
  • Perform work in accordance with all safety rules and regulations and report potentially dangerous situations to appropriate personnel.

Job Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • Handle, adjust, replace, or repair any part of the line or material processed in line (strip and tube) by hand, if necessary.
  • Use catwalks, step ladders, and work at heights up to 50 feet and in pits to 35 feet in depth.
  • Able to work effectively in team environment and with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  • Handle some hot material and work in close proximity to equipment flooded with lubricating and cooling water.

We are looking for a Quality Control Supervisor at our Portland, Oregon location. The Quality Control Supervisor will provide supervision for the inspection and testing activities for the pipe mill. This position will interact with the operations department on a daily basis to ensure that a high quality product is produced as efficiently and safely as possible. A part of the job will be to interact with mill personnel at all levels, but primary interactions will be with shop floor subordinates and mid-level management. This person will be involved in team-oriented problem solving efforts as opportunities present themselves.

Job Responsibilities
  • Monitor ongoing inspection process in each production department to ensure that inspections are accomplished according to documented procedures.
  • Order, receive and maintain a necessary inventory of inspection-related supplies.
  • Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated, verified according to proper frequencies, and properly maintained.
  • Ensure that quality control reporting and records are completed in all areas in a timely fashion (typically on a per shift basis).
  • Review quality reports in each inspection area and provide guidance to the inspection personnel concerning inspection setups, poor trends in the inspection data, or improvements in techniques as required.
  • Develop recommendations concerning reactions to problems with inspection data and work with the operating department to limit the manufacturing of non-compliant product in each production area.
  • Work with quality management to develop/improve written inspection procedures, as needed.
  • Participate, as needed, in quality improvement projects including following trials, analyzing results, collecting shop floor data, etc.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelors degree is preferred.
  • 5 years work experience in the quality department of a manufacturing-related business. Pipe and /or steel mill processes and operations a plus.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact with individuals at various levels within the organization.
  • Experience working with interdepartmental teams at all levels of management to accomplish goals.

As an Asset Maintenance Coordinator, you will report directly to the General Supervisor and will prepare, monitor, and evaluate results from equipment inspections.

We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer Coordinator to join our growing quality control team focused on providing technical support to the Evraz-Pueblo rod/bar mill operation. As the Process Engineer Coordinator, you will be integrally involved in gaining and maintaining an intimate knowledge of the rod/bar mill manufacturing process to ensure efficiency and quality of rod/bar products. Job Responsibilities

As a Process Engineer Coordinator, you will be required to operate and repair specialized manufacturing equipment (i.e., eddy current detector), utilize statistical means to optimize and improve performance, and perform trails in the development of rod/bar products from initial documentation through to final report.

Additional responsibilities of the Process Engineer Coordinator include:

  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement for the rod/bar manufacturing mill
  • Leading brainstorming sessions with operations and management personnel during the initial stages of the process control effort
  • Conducting process optimization trials at mill (Evraz-Pueblo or customer’s) using statistical methods, as necessary; defining the potential savings of process improvements during the capital expenditure process
  • Writing and gaining approval for standard procedures for process control (sppc’s)
  • Performing process capability studies of key process parameters, communicating the results to mill management, and identifying areas of improvement
  • Identifying root causes of product claims and addressing through proper corrective actions and control processes
  • Participating in six-sigma training efforts in order to ensure capability in regard to utilization of available tools

Job Requirements

Successful candidates for the Process Engineer Coordinator role should be able to utilize statistical tools to identify issues and opportunities based on available data (data driven decision making).

They also need to have effective the communication skills necessary to report trial results and/or process improvement efforts inside as well as outside of the manufacturing mill.

Additional requirements of the Process Engineer Coordinator role include:

  • Engineering or technical science degree, required; metallurgical or material science engineering degree, preferred
  • Strong mathematical aptitude
  • Three years’ experience in a manufacturing or related industry, preferred
  • Working knowledge of problem solving methods and basic statistics as a minimum; Six Sigma training, preferred
  • Fluent with MS Office tools: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience giving presentations to management regarding project results
  • Experience writing technical reports summarizing key findings and identifying next steps

Superintendent - Rod & Bar Mill (ENA3717A)

We are currently seeking a Superintendent for our Rod and Bar Mill in Pueblo, CO.

Job Responsibilities

As a Superintendent, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the rolling mill. Your responsibilities will include: mentoring teams, training, directing and creating a culture of safety, quality and collaboration. You will also be responsible for creating and managing the mill budget, capital and operations planning, mill productivity, and managing a team of 115 people. You will report to the Director of Operations.

Other responsibilities of the Superintendent position include:

  • Creating a culture of safety throughout the rolling mill
  • Training employees on safe work practices
  • Attending weekly safety meetings
  • Driving the quality performance for the rolling mill
  • Developing and directing the leadership team in quality improvements
  • Working with the technical department on new product development
  • Ensuring the mill is following all ISO conformance
  • Developing production improvement teams
  • Setting goals and measurements for the rolling mill
  • Developing plans for capital project
  • Maintaining the monthly budget

Job Requirements

As a Superintendent, you must have a proven track record of success in production management with strict adherence to safety regulations. You must be able to create and lead a culture of safety. Qualified candidates must have very strong communication skills and the ability to manage upward and downward in the organization. You must have a history of managing change and having the managerial courage of doing the right thing. You must have experience developing goals and performance improvement plans for staff.

Other requirements of the Superintendent position includes:

  • 10+ years of experience as a Superintendent, Operations Manager or General Supervisor
  • Must have experience in a union environment
  • Bachelor’s degree, strongly preferred
  • Must have heavy industrial manufacturing experience (i.e. steel, metals, automotive, machinery, paper and forest or scrap yard)
  • Must have experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement

Job Requirements
  • Must possess an Associate Degree in welding or have completed a welding apprenticeship. Welding Certifications desired.

  • Read prints, plans work, procedures and techniques, and obtaining and moving of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Operates all equipment needed to complete the job.
  • Directs others in conditioning and preparation.
  • Observes lockout procedures.
