Evraz North America Announces Reorganization of Operations

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Evraz North America, a specialty and commodity steel manufacturer with a capacity of five million tons across eight facilities in the U.S. and Canada, has announced an internal reorganization of its operations designed to make the company more flexible and responsive to changes in customer needs and market conditions.

This transformation project, which is part of newly-appointed President and CEO Mike Rehwinkel’s vision for the company, includes the restructuring of manufacturing and commercial operations by major product groups – flat, tubular, and long products.

Evraz Product Groups
The new product-line organization brings together commercial and manufacturing expertise and capabilities from across the organization centered on the company’s major product categories:
  • The Flat Products Group manufactures steel plate and coiled plate used in construction of tanks, vessels, bridges, rail cars, and in the manufacture of pipes. These products are manufactured at facilities in Portland, OR, Claymont DE, Regina, SK and Surrey, BC.
  • The Tubular Products Group produces steel pipe used in energy applications; large diameter API grade pipe used for natural gas and oil pipelines, small diameter API grade welded and seamless pipe for use in down hole drilling and collection of oil and gas. It includes pipe mills in Regina, SK; Calgary, Red Deer and Camrose, AB; and the seamless pipe mill in Pueblo, CO.
  • The Long Products Group produces railroad rails and rod/bar used to make wire products and in construction at the Evraz Rocky Mountain Steel facility in Pueblo, CO.

Executive Appointments
As part of the restructuring, Evraz North America has promoted Rob Simon and Scott Montross to lead two of the product groups. Simon, who most recently managed Evraz Rocky Mountain Steel, was promoted to Executive Vice President, Tubular Products Group. Montross, who was previously the head of Evraz Oregon Steel, is now Executive Vice President, Flat Products Group. The Executive Vice Presidents are responsible for both sales and operations for their product groups across the U.S. and Canada.

Additionally, Mike Garcia has joined Evraz North America as the Senior Vice President, Manufacturing and Supply Chain. Garcia brings extensive manufacturing experience with organizations including Gerdau Ameristeel and Alcoa. He will focus on production optimization, maintenance practices, procurement, process control and benchmarking across North American operations.

Jennifer Murray has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Organization and Change Management. In this role, she will work with the executive team to facilitate the company’s evolution into a commercially driven, cohesive enterprise with fully aligned business functions. Previously, she served as Vice President, Administration.

“Rob, Scott, Mike and Jennifer each bring experience and talent to their new roles that will serve the company well as we further integrate and unify our North American operations,” said Rehwinkel. “With our new organizational structure and leadership team, Evraz is well-positioned to take advantage of improving market conditions in North America.”
